Sherma Andrews delivered a showstopping performance to her audience at the B.B King Blues Club, New York, on May 13, 2015, one night before the blues legend himself, B.B. King sadly passed away. Sherma performed to a sold out audience that had no problem rising to their feet in a standing ovation. Sherma flawlessly covered the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Aretha Franklin, Sade, Anita Baker, Mahalia Jackson, Donna Summer, Diana Ross and many others. Sherma gave special mention to her idol, songwriting singing legend, Valerie Simpson for inspiring her through the years. A show worth seeing again and again!

Sherma Andrews was born the youngest in a musically gifted family living in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago. As a child prodigy, Sherma began playing the accordion at age 4. Her perfect pitch and her ability to play any song after only one listening led her to serve as the church organist at age 7. In retrospect, she was always destined for a bright future in music.
Further, as a youngster, Sherma became a positive force in her community. Coming from a family that believed in giving, at an early age Sherma established herself as a messenger of hope through song. She participated in organizations dedicated to helping those that were less fortunate. Additionally, with her family, they offered meals and songs that comforted disadvantaged Trinidadians.
Sherma's active participation in prestigious song competitions and talent shows won her numerous national awards. Sherma was the three time undefeated Junior Calypso Monarch at Skinner Park, San Fernando. She placed first in the Caribbean Song Festival, establishing her as a formidable songwriter. Sherma was then awarded a National Merit Scholarship for gifted youth to study at the accredited Berklee College of Music, Boston MA.
At Berklee, Sherma studied with many of the most respected musicians and music professors in the industry. It is not surprising that after graduating with honors and gaining a wealth of experience, she joined the Faculty at Berklee College as an Ensemble and Performance Instructor. During that time, Sherma formed a band with renowned saxophonist, Markus Hauser that toured Switzerland, Austria and Germany. She was hailed by the German press as "A true star who has graced us with her presence before she vanishes beyond reach." The tour culminated in an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
Sherma toured and worked with many accomplished recording artists and filled in for Whitney Houston during Enrique Iglesias' World Tour. She worked with, Branford Marsalis, Britney Spears, Donna Summer and opened for Michael McDonald and Michael Feinstein.
Sherma also performed for President Bill Clinton's Foundation Gala and many festivals including The Montreux and Cape Cod Jazz Festivals.
Having the desire and ability to create her own shows, Sherma produced two "one woman" shows, "The Legendary Lady Singers" and "The Legendary Ladies of Jazz". Sherma has performed these shows both nationally and internationally and has received illustrious reviews. Both shows are autobiographical in nature with references to and songs of the legendary lady singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and many others, telling of their lives and influence on Sherma's career. The shows have a funny segment called "Sherma's Kitchen" where Sherma becomes a waitress and her band, the chefs as they dish out a menu of songs just for dessert. Sherma also performs some of her own songs in the shows making the shows a dynamic blast of entertainment worth seeing over and over again.
Her songs have been played on The Young and The Restless, The Bold and The Beautiful, Against The Ropes, The Sopranos and other TV shows.
Sherma Andrews is no stranger to the stage and has performed in Madison Square Garden, Shrine Auditorium, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bergen Performing Arts Center, The American Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, Billboard Music Awards and many others.
Sherma Andrews. Singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, pianist, educator and recording artist, is not just a phenomenal talent, she is an experience to remember.
